March 2025 Astrological Forecast
BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH
In January and February 2025, I described a period of relative calm, likening it to the calm before a storm. March heralds the arrival of that storm, with most upheaval expected from mid-March through early April. This period marks an accelerated pace and signifies the second stage of a significant astrological shift from earth and water signs to air and fire signs—a transition not seen in 2600 years. For more insights into this new era, refer to my article, "The Times They Are A’Changin." Here.
Prepare for personal and global changes this month. Remember, change is not necessarily negative, unless you are a fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius), that might struggle more with adaptation.
The astrological focus this month is on Pisces and Aries. The New Moon on February 27 was in Pisces, amplifying emotions and intuition. Under Pisces, there may be an overemphasis on self-absorption, focusing on our wounds and either real or imagined traumas. This could lead to giving too much or sacrificing too much for others. Neptune has been in Pisces since 2011, creating challenges in establishing protective boundaries. Pisces governs endings, and as we approach the month's end, a significant shift occurs as the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Neptune, and a solar eclipse transition into Aries, signaling a time for bold actions and new beginnings. Unlike Pisces, which is about spiritual transcendence and overcoming the ego, Aries embodies the ego, the pioneering spirit, and warrior-like qualities.
Both Mercury and Venus will go retrograde this month, transitioning from Pisces to Aries. There will be two eclipses: a Lunar Eclipse in Virgo on the 14th and a Solar Eclipse in Aries on the 29th. Additionally, the Sun's move into Aries on the 20th marks the start of the astrological New Year.
Mars, which has been retrograde since December 6, causing a period of inertia and guilt as tasks piled up, will turn direct on February 23. This shift will energize and motivate us in various aspects of life, including work, family, and in roles where we nurture or heal others. No more excuses—it's time to get moving.
Highlights for this month:
Note to my Astrology Clients. Use your Planetary Placement and Ascendant sheet to find if you have a personal planet (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, or Mars) or the ascendant within 2 degrees of the degree of the transits listed below. If so, the transit will have a significant impact on you.
I just heard an interview with Lawrence Hillman, an archetypal astrologer who remarked that anyone who tries to predict events using astrology is an idiot. Hmmmm…Well. Here goes:
Mar 1 – Venus turns retrograde at 10 degrees of Aries and will stay retrograde until April 12. She will be traveling between Saturn in Pisces and Uranus in Taurus. As Aphrodite, she was born to heal the division between Uranus, representing constant change, and Saturn, the ruler of restriction. As Venus rules love and finance, during this period we will look inward and re-assess our relationships and our values and financial decisions. Some old loves may come back into our lives. While Venus is in Aries, we will strive for independence and hopefully practice self-love. While Venus is retrograde, go inward and think of what love and partnership mean to you. Watch out for impulsive decisions in your finances.
Mar 2 – Mercury Conjunct Neptune at 28 degrees of Pisces. Fuzzy thinking today--don’t even attempt to do your taxes today. Instead, curl up on the couch and read about the scandals of famous people.
Sun Square Jupiter at 12 degrees of Pisces/Jupiter. There can be setbacks today in your home, your business or in your education. Try to be philosophical about it all. This will only last a few days..
Mar 3 – Mercury enters Aries until May 10. He is in Aries a long time because he turns retrograde on March 15, backs up into Pisces on March 29 and then goes direct on April 7 at 25 degrees of Pisces and then reenters Aries on April 16. He won’t enter Taurus until May 10. Mercury in Aries is the fastest tongue in the west. He has a very cutting, sharp wit. Don’t try to argue with anyone during the time Mercury is in Aries. You will get a sharp comeback or maybe you are the gunslinger looking for a fight. Get on X.com and voice your complaints about everything.
Mar 8 – Sun Trine Mars at 17 degrees of Pisces/Cancer. You have plenty of energy to work on your projects. This aspect helps you direct that energy.
Mar 9 – Daylight Savings Time starts at 2 AM. The changes between Daylight Savings time and Standard time are the bane of all astrologers. Not just in the USA but around the world. It’s a problem scheduling astrology sessions with clients. What time zone are they on, which time zone are we on? Why don’t they just pick one system and stay with it? Where are Trump’s executive orders when you need them? I would opt for Standard time year ‘round.
Mar 11 – Mercury conjunct Venus at 9 degrees of Aries. I like this one, someone is chatting to their friends about their love life. Also, important emails are coming in from the opposite sex that are enticing.
Mar 12 – Sun Conjunct Saturn at 22 Pisces. So you are at a meeting and trying to control the group? That won’t work. They won’t stand for it. Maybe you could try some compromise and listen instead of mouthing off. That is better.
Mar 14 – Lunar Eclipse at 23 Virgo. This eclipse marks the first occurrence in Virgo since 2016 and presents a destabilizing influence. Positioned on the USA’s Neptune in the 9th house, it likely forecasts increased misinformation and distortion from the media, particularly concerning issues of foreigners and immigration. Eclipses in Virgo highlight matters of health and work routines, emphasizing service and analysis. This particular event may signal significant developments or endings related to labor unions, migration, and strikes.
The eclipse questions whether perfectionism hinders timely completion of tasks, as Virgo's meticulous nature can delay deadlines. Eclipse energies can be felt from four to six weeks before the actual event and up to six months afterward. During a lunar eclipse, the Moon opposes the Sun, creating tension between idealistic and realistic approaches, especially highlighted in Pisces and Virgo alignments.
Complicating this celestial event further, Mercury, the ruler of Virgo and the planet of communication, enters retrograde shortly after, intensifying the eclipse’s impact. Additionally, the Sun’s conjunction with Saturn in Pisces introduces themes of limits and restrictions. Saturn, associated with structure and melancholy, completes a grand cross in former President Trump’s natal chart and squares both his Moon and Sun, suggesting potentially perilous times for him.
Mar 15 – Mercury turns retrograde at 9 Pisces and will stay retrograde until April 7. A time to guard against miscommunications. Double check messages before you send them out. There could be glitches in technology --back up your files. Reconsider old ideas. Don’t make rushed decisions, allow clarity to emerge. Because of the eclipse, the mind is kind of wonky especially if you have Sun or Mercury in Virgo or Pisces.
Mar 19 – Sun Conjunct Neptune at 29 degrees of Pisces. Your imagination is working overtime. Be sure of the facts before you present your outlandish concepts to others.
Mar 20 – Spring Equinox- Sun enters Aries until April 19. This is a new cycle that will bring courage, determination and the possibility of leaping into something new. This is the astrological New Year. You could experience fresh momentum, a pioneering spirit, new beginnings and bold action. Have faith and step into a leadership position with confidence. .
Mar 22 – Sun conjunct Venus at 2 degrees of Aries. This stimulates your social life. Your popularity increases and you may make a new friend or two. If you are an introvert, go hide somewhere for a few days. People may find you fascinating now and will come into your cave to get you.
Mar 24 – Sun Conjunct Mercury at 5 degrees of Aries. This is a good aspect for two things--taking a short trip, or for writing, or both. How about travel writing? This aspect shines a light on your mind. It is expanded by travel and it is honed by writing.
Mar 27 – Venus backs up into Pisces and conjuncts Neptune at 29 degrees of Pisces. I have had a lot of clients fall madly in love on a Venus/Neptune aspect involving their Venus or Neptune in their natal chart. I always say, Wait! There is a good chance you are deluded. My advice is to have fun but make no commitments on this one.
Mar 29 – Solar Eclipse at 9 Aries. This eclipse represents a cosmic reset, heralding new and bold beginnings that are unexpected and characterized by fearlessness and independence. Aries, ruled by Mars—the planet of war—pushes for progress without dwelling on the past. Focus on the house in your natal chart that contains Aries to identify areas ripe for a fresh start.
For the President, this eclipse poses challenges. It occurs in his 8th house, which symbolizes death and rebirth, and creates tense aspects with other significant placements in his chart. It squares his Mercury in Cancer, located in the 11th house of close associations, and opposes Neptune in Libra in the 2nd house, which governs finance and values. This alignment suggests potential difficulties involving communication, betrayal, and financial or ethical values.
Mercury backs up into Pisces and conjuncts Neptune at 29 degrees of Pisces. I know you want to stay in bed this morning and daydream, but you can’t rest, we have more changes coming. Get up!
Mar 30 – Neptune will transit into Aries, remaining there until 2050, but will briefly revert to Pisces from October 2022 to January 2026. During its time in Pisces, our collective idealism may emphasize compassion, empathy, and spirituality, with Neptune’s influence dissolving boundaries and perhaps fostering a culture of victimhood and blame. It’s placement in Pisces enhances sensitivity, intuition, and imagination, though it also encourages escapism.
Saturn, which represents structure and reality, joined Neptune in Pisces in May 2021. The combination of Neptune's boundary-dissolving nature and Saturn's boundary-forming essence may leave us feeling lost or unable to turn dreams into reality, akin to being "asleep in the poppy fields."
This dynamic will change as both planets will move into Aries this spring, heralding a shift towards self-assertion and overcoming obstacles. This is a significant change, marking the first conjunction of Saturn and Neptune in Aries since the Civil War, occurring in July 2025 and again in February 2026.
Now we have Neptune alone in Aries, Neptune rules our ideals, so your focus shifts to personal courage, overcoming challenges, and nationalism, emphasizing self-reliance over seeking heroes elsewhere. This transition is part of a broader astrological shift as all outer planets move from earth and water signs to fire and air signs, indicating a period of active, forward-looking energy.
OUTER PLANET TRANSITS FOR MARCH 2025
JUPITER is in Gemini until June 9, 2025. This month he will move from 12 to 15 degrees of Gemini. Jupiter is the big, fat, happy guy who is expansive in everything. In Gemini, he expresses his talent for speaking, learning, teaching and writing. It also indicates a growth in your beliefs and your goals. Until July 11, Jupiter will bring good luck and opportunities to the house containing Gemini.
SATURN is in Pisces until May 26, 2025. This month Saturn will move from 20 to 24 degrees of Pisces. Saturn rules your material world and especially your career. If you have the ascendant or any personal planets anywhere from 18 to 26 degrees of Pisces or Virgo, you may be in store for some hard lessons about the issues in the house containing Pisces and or Virgo. Pisces is a creative dreamer. While in Pisces, Saturn will solidify your dreams and fantasies. On the world stage, Saturn in Pisces can result in our institutions dissolving and the old systems breaking down.
URANUS is in Taurus until August 2025. Uranus will move from 23 to 24 degrees of Taurus this month. This is the time to break loose and radically change your life. I believe in ‘cooperating with the inevitable.’ If you have Uranus in a challenging aspect to your ascendant or personal planets (21 to 26) degrees of Taurus or Scorpio), go on an extended vacation, preferably to somewhere you have never been. Or make some significant changes in your life. Taurus represents the earth. Expect news about farming, food, earthquakes, volcanoes, tornadoes, or other major weather changes while Uranus is in Taurus.
NEPTUNE is in Pisces until March 31, 2025. Neptune moves from 28 to 29 degrees of Pisces until the 31st of the month. If you have the ascendant or personal planets anywhere from 26 to 29 degrees of Pisces or Virgo, you may lack focus during this time and want to daydream. Beware of a betrayal, a disappointment, and a sense of drifting. Neptune can also bring artistic, musical, and creative expression, increased dreams, and spiritual insights. Watch for inspired films to come out when Neptune is in Pisces. After Neptune moves into Aries on the 31st of March, if you have planets in 0 to 2 degrees of Aries, you stand up straight and decide not to be a baby any longer, you take charge of your destiny.
PLUTO is in Aquarius and moves from 2 to 3 degrees this month. Pluto grinds away at your psyche, bringing up all sorts of complex psychological issues. You should run to your nearest therapist, especially if you have the ascendant or personal planets anywhere from 0 to 5 degrees of Aquarius. Pluto asks what needs to die to be reborn.
