The Partial Solar Eclipse at 29 Virgo on Sept 21, 2025
The Solar Eclipse of September 21 at 29° Virgo
This solar eclipse will be visible in New Zealand, a narrow strip of eastern Australia, various Pacific Islands, and parts of Antarctica.
Solar eclipses are often associated with sudden events that disrupt our routines. They represent crises that seem to arise out of nowhere, demanding our full and immediate attention. Unlike lunar eclipses, which tend to affect emotions and inner awareness, solar eclipses can trigger more tangible shifts--physically, consciously, and even politically.
This eclipse marks a particularly powerful New Moon, making it an ideal time to set intentions for the future. It emphasizes themes of organization, practicality, and attention to detail--encouraging us to address health concerns, refine daily routines, and adopt a more grounded, objective mindset.
A solar eclipse in Virgo often signals the beginning of new work related to service, teaching, editing, skilled manual labor, or tasks requiring precision. The six months following the eclipse are an excellent window for initiating fresh projects in these areas.
Because this eclipse occurs at the final degree of Virgo, it carries a sense of culmination and transition. We are being called to plant the seeds of a new culture. This eclipse also opposes Saturn, a planet associated with boundaries, discipline, and structural change. With Saturn involved, there’s a strong push to release old stories and commit to more grounded, enduring paths.
Interestingly, Saturn is currently conjunct Neptune. The last time these two met was in 1989. At the time, I remember thinking that it looked like a barrier (Saturn) might dissolve (Neptune)--and sure enough, the Berlin Wall came down. A few years later, the Soviet Union collapsed. Major planetary aspects and eclipses can act like dominoes: they begin a sequence of change, but the final outcome may take years to fully unfold.
Impact on the United States
This eclipse lands on the Midheaven (MC) of the U.S. chart, a point traditionally associated with national leadership and public reputation. We may witness a significant shake-up in the current administration or a shift in the country's direction. There may even be a new chapter ahead for President Trump by February 2026, when another eclipse occurs--this time on the U.S. Moon in the 3rd house. That could reflect rising public anxiety or insecurity.
Interesting Note on World Leaders
While exploring the eclipse’s influence on global figures, I looked at the charts for Benjamin Netanyahu and Vladimir Putin. Both are Libra Suns, and Netanyahu also has a Libra Moon. At first, it seems ironic--Libra is typically associated with peace--but it’s also the sign of strategy and diplomacy. Many famous generals were Libras, including Dwight D. Eisenhower, who was a double Libra (Sun and Moon). And get this--Charlie Kirk was a double Libra too! I know I’m going down the rabbit hole here, but I get completely immersed when I start exploring birth charts. Apologies for the tangent. I will post the chart for Charlie Kirk later, I’m waiting to get a firm birth time.
Personal Effects
On a personal level, solar eclipses act like spotlight--illuminating both what’s hidden and what’s ripe for renewal. In my consultations, I’ve noticed that eclipses often wake people up to areas of life they've overlooked, especially those associated with the house the eclipse falls in.
This eclipse echoes the solar eclipse of September 22, 2006. Reflect on what was happening in your life at that time--it may offer clues to what’s now unfolding.
If you're a client, consult your Planetary Placement and Ascendant Sheet to see how this eclipse might affect you. Eclipses can challenge the status quo and redirect your life’s path. If your birthday falls near an eclipse, expect meaningful developments over the next months or even years.
This eclipse at 29° Virgo will particularly impact those with personal planets between 27° Virgo and 2° Libra. Check your chart to see which house these degrees occupy--they'll show you where you might experience endings and new beginnings.
If any of these eclipses fall on a personal planet in your chart, check the keyword list for planetary meanings here.
